Bill,
I imaged your nova on the 3,7 and 9 Dec with the following results:

3 Dec    JD 2453708.170116    V=12.57 +/-0.01
7 Dec    JD 2453712.207801    V=12.61 +/-0.01
7 Dec    JD 2453712.217431    R=12.23 +/-0.01
9 Dec    JD 2453714.099954    V=12.55 +/-0.01

I'm not sure why my mags are significantly lower than yours (Peter Nelson
got 12.67 on the 11 Dec). I used Mati Morel's chart and sequence;
specifically his "133" as it had the least 'clutter' around it. I made
measurements using the annular and also the elliptical Gaussian (PSF)
methods, with similar results.

I've attached a big blow-up image (1.5'x1.3' approx, it will most probably
be stripped out for most) of the nova, showing how crowded the LMC field is.
