Dear colleagues,

CBET 820 reports that B. Heathcote obtained a spectrum of the
possible nova discovered by W. Liller, and the spectrum shows
strong Halpha emission. This object thus must be a nova!
The precise position measured by Heathcote is
R.A. = 11h43m10s.33, Decl. = -58o04'04".3 (equinox 2000.0).
P. Schmeer pointed out that this position is very close to
that of a star with a red mag=17.2 in USNO B1.0 catalog and
of a star with J=16.6 and K=15.1 in the 2MASS catalog.
Some photometric results are also reported in this note, and
this object was brighter than V=9 on Jan. 25 (UT).

Best regards,
Daisaku Nogami
