Dear colleagues,
Berto reported his detection of an outburst of Ha 0242-2802,
as below. Photometric and spectroscopic observations in
quiescence have revealed that the orbital period is 107 min
and this star show deep eclipses of ~2 mag (see Mason & Howell
2003, A&A, 403, 699; Woudt et al., 2004, MNRAS, 351, 1015;
Mason & Howell, 2005, A&A, 439, 301)!
This outburst is the first one detected to date in this
object. Although maybe a little too faint (15.8 mag),
follow-up observations are highly encouraged!
Best regards,
Daisaku Nogami
