VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary

*** Headlines ***

Rare superoutburst of a long period SU UMa star ----- V725 Aql

*** Last week news ***

(new targets)
  V725 Aql (RA = 19h56m43s.61, Dec = +10d49'22".1)

    P. Schmeer reported a rare outburst of an SU UMa-type dwarf nova,
V725 Aql (13.5mag on Nov. 8). The outburst still continues, which
indicates a superoutburst. This object has a long superhump
period. Uemura et al. (2001) reported a roughly constant superhump
period throughout a superoutburst, which is atypical for long period
  SU UMa stars (vsnet-campaign-dn 4567, vsnet-campaign 1631).

  AW Gem (RA = 07h22m40s.83, Dec = +28d30'18".5)

The SU UMa-type dwarf nova AW Gem is undergoing an outburst,
  as reported by E. Muyllaert on Nov. 8 (13.1mag;
  vsnet-campaign-dn 4569).

  TU Tri (RA = 01h39m15s.74, Dec = +31d24'15".1)

    P. Schmeer reported a superoutburst of TU Tri started on Oct. 30.
He also reported the position of the object shown above. On the
finding chart in Ron Downes' Catalog and Atlas of Cataclysmic
Variables, TU Tri is the faint star southeast of the marked star.
Precise position and magnitude for that latter (very blue) star
  from the Henden/Sumner sequence: R.A. 01h39m15.32s
  Decl. +31o24'19.6" (vsnet-campaign 1629).

  HS 2219+1824 (RA = 22h21m44s.79, Dec = +18d40'08".3)

An outburst of HS 2219+1824 (13.3C) was reported by J. Pietz on
Nov 13. The object was faint on Nov 6 (vsnet-campaign-dn 4571).

  1RXS J020929.0+283243 (RA = 02h09m29s.82, Dec = +28d32'29".1)

According to ATEL#652, Denisenko et al, discovered a new eclipsing
CV with a short orbital period. The period is 0.06685(2) d, or
96.26 min. If the reported magnitude of 17.0mag is a quiescent one,
we can expect relatively bright superoutbursts in future.
  (vsnet-campaign-dn 4566).

(old targets)
  DO Vul (RA = 19h52m10s.71, Dec = +19d34'42".5)

DO Vul is in superoutburst. As originally suggested by
  P. Schmeer, the object is confirmed to be an SU UMa-type dwarf
  nova (Vanmunster, Psh = 0.065(6) d) (vsnet-campaign-dn 4568).
Observations by M. Moriyama show another outburst on Oct 10.
The object was 16.2C mag on Nov 7 (vsnet-campaign-dn 4570).

  TT Ari (RA = 02h06m53s.09, Dec = +15d17'43".0)

    I. Andronov reported, based on their results on October 14-19,
that no positive superhumps are present. The light curve is
  dominated by ~14-min QPOs with a semi-amplitude of 0.04mag
superimposed onto long-term variations, possibly negative
superhumps. They reported: "We suggest that the system returned to
its negative superhump state. Such switches may be owed to
variability of the accretion rate caused by a magnetic activity of
the red dwarf (Kraicheva et al 1999)." (vsnet-campaign 1630).

  V477 Sct (RA = 18h38m43s, Dec = -12d16'.3)

    K. Nakajima reported V=14.68 on Nov 12 (vsnet-campaign-nova 1776).

  V476 Sct (RA = 18h32m04s.75, Dec = -06d43'34".3)

    K. Nakajima reported V=15.73 on Nov 12 (vsnet-campaign-nova 1776).
