TCP J16294031-4022063: unusually reddened SU UMa-type dwarf nova? Josch Hambsch has reported observations. The data showed regular 0.23-mag superhumps with a period of 0.0543(4) d. This result, however, is strange since this object is apparently reddened like a nova: YYYYMMDD(UT) mag observer 20230716.5893 14.73V (Masayuki Moriyama) 20230716.5904 14.21Rc (Masayuki Moriyama) 20230716.5914 13.68Ic (Masayuki Moriyama) 20230716.5925 15.06B (Masayuki Moriyama) If this is a reddened SU UMa-type dwarf nova, the object should be fairly close. The absence of a bright quiescent counterpart would be problematic. Further observations are strongly encouraged.
