We observed from 2025-10-18 02:20 to 03:20 UTC (from 17.65 h to 18.65 h after the trigger) and obtained 60 minutes of exposure in the g/r/i/z/y filters. The data were reduced and coadded with the COLIBRÍ pipeline and analysed with STDWeb/STDPipe (Karpov 2025). The photometry was calibrated using nearby stars from the PanSTARRS DR1 catalog, is in the AB system, and is not corrected for Galactic extinction. After correcting for the Galactic foreground extinction corresponding to a reddening of E(B-V) = 0.092 mag (Schlafly & Finkbeiner 2011) and fitting a power-law model to the grizy-bands using the SMC extinction curve, we derive a photometric redshift of z = 4.34+0.15-0.42 (1-sigma c.l.). Evans report on behalf of the Swift-XRT team: We have analysed 5.3 ks of XRT data for GRB 251017A, from 96 s to 39.9 ks after the trigger. The data comprise 75 s in Windowed Timing (WT) mode (the first 11 s were taken while Swift was slewing) with the remainder in Photon Counting (PC) mode. The late-time light curve (from T0+4.7 ks) can be modelled with a power-law decay with a decay index of alpha=1.1 (+0.4, -0.3). A spectrum formed from the WT mode data can be fitted with an absorbed power-law with a photon spectral index of 1.67 (+/-0.15). The best-fitting absorption column is 1.4 (+/-0.5) x 10^21 cm^-2, consistent with the Galactic value of 8.9 x 10^20 cm^-2 (Willingale et al. 2013). The PC mode spectrum has a photon index of 2.09 (+0.22, -0.21) and a best-fitting absorption column of 1.9 (+0.8, -0.7) x 10^21 cm^-2. The counts to observed (unabsorbed) 0.3-10 keV flux conversion factor deduced from this spectrum is 3.5 x 10^-11 (4.9 x 10^-11) erg cm^-2 count^-1. A summary of the PC-mode spectrum is thus: Total column: 1.9 (+0.8, -0.7) x 10^21 cm^-2 Galactic foreground: 8.9 x 10^20 cm^-2 Excess significance: 2.5 sigma Photon index: 2.09 (+0.22, -0.21) If the light curve continues to decay with a power-law decay index of 1.1, the count rate at T+24 hours will be 7.1 x 10^-3 count s^-1, corresponding to an observed (unabsorbed) 0.3-10 keV flux of 2.5 x 10^-13 (3.5 x 10^-13) erg cm^-2 s^-1. Xu (NAOC) report on behalf of a large collaboration: We observed the field of GRB 251018A (Gupta et al., GCN 423243) using the 0.7-m telescope of the Thai Robotic Telescope (TRT) network, located at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, Chile. Observations started at 2025-10-17 03:14:29.2 UT, i. e., 147 s after the trigger, and a series frames in the Sloan r filter were obtained. An uncatalogued and varying optical transient (OT) is clearly detected at the Swift-UVOT position (Gupta et al., GCN 42343), with r = 17.96 +/-0.03 (AB) at ~ 865 s post-burst, calibrated with nearby SKYMAPPER-DR2 catalog and without the Galactic extinction correction. We thus confirm that the OT is indeed the optical afterglow of the burst. Siegel (PSU) report on behalf of the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory Team: At 03:12:02 UT, the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) triggered and located GRB 251018A (trigger=1405083). Swift slewed immediately to the burst. The BAT on-board calculated location is RA, Dec 282.071, -37.028 which is RA(J2000) = 18h 48m 17s Dec(J2000) = -37d 01' 41" with an uncertainty of 3 arcmin (radius, 90% containment, including systematic uncertainty). The BAT light curve showed a complex structure with a duration of about 60 sec. The peak count rate was ~2000 counts/sec (15-350 keV), at ~1 sec after the trigger. The XRT began observing the field at 03:13:16.7 UT, 74.4 seconds after the BAT trigger. XRT found a bright, uncatalogued X-ray source located at RA, Dec 282.0433, -37.0265 which is equivalent to: RA(J2000) = 18h 48m 10.39s Dec(J2000) = -37d 01' 35.4" with an uncertainty of 6.3 arcseconds (radius, 90% containment). This location is 79 arcseconds from the BAT onboard position, within the BAT error circle. The initial flux in the 2.5 s image was 5.19e-10 erg cm^-2 s^-1 (0.2-10 keV). UVOT took a finding chart exposure of 150 seconds with the White filter starting 83 seconds after the BAT trigger. There is a candidate afterglow in the rapidly available 2.7'x2.7' sub-image at RA(J2000) = 18:48:10.04 = 282.04183 DEC(J2000) = -37:01:42.2 = -37.02840 with a 90%-confidence error radius of about 0.62 arc sec. This position is 8.0 arc sec. from the center of the XRT error circle. The estimated magnitude is 17.96 with a 1-sigma error of about 0.15. No correction has been made for the expected extinction corresponding to E(B-V) of 0.100. Burst Advocate for this burst is R. The optical counterpart (Perez-Garcia et al., GCN 42323; Antier et al., GCN 42325; Goad et al., GCN 42326; Sasada et al., GCN 42329; Lipunov et al., GCN 42330; Fu et al., GCN 42331; Mo et al., GCN 42336, Adami et al. GCN 42339) is detected in both channels. Mid-time | exposure time (s) | band | Magnitude (AB) ---------|-------------------|------|----------------- 3.96 h | 27*70 | VT_B | 22.57+/-0.14 3.96 h | 27*70 | VT_R | 20.30+/-0.05 Given the red color from the VT data, it is likely a medium/high redshift burst with a redshift > 4. Our photometry was in AB magnitude and not corrected for Galactic extinction. Meegan (UAH) report on behalf of the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor Team: "At 03:41:40.09 UT on 11 October 2025, the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) triggered and located GRB 251011A (trigger 781846905/251011154), which was also detected by AstroSat (Tembhurnikar et al. 2025, GCN 42199), Insight-HMXT (Wang et al. 2025, GCN 42210), and Swift-BAT/GUANO (DeLaunay et al. 2025, GCN 42245). The Fermi GBM on-ground location is consistent with the Swift position. The angle from the Fermi LAT boresight is 62 degrees. The GBM light curve consists of a multi-peaked structure with a duration (T90) of about 4.9 s (50-300 keV). The time-averaged spectrum from T0-0.7 to T0+4.9 s is best fit by a power law function with an exponential high-energy cutoff. The power law index is -0.76 +/- 0.01 and the cutoff energy, parameterized as Epeak, is 136 +/- 1 keV. The event fluence (10-1000 keV) in this time interval is (3.26 +/- 0.07)E-06 ergs/cm^2 erg/cm^2. The 1-sec peak photon flux measured starting from T0+1.8 s in the 10-1000 keV band is 11.5 +/- 0.3 ph/s/cm^2. A Band function fits the spectrum equally well with Epeak = 125 +/- 1 keV, alpha = -0.69 +/- 0.01 and beta = -2.70 +/- 0.04. The afterglow is detected and we measured the following preliminary magnitude: i’ = 21.39+/-0.32 mag (AB) The photometric calibration was performed using nearby stars from the PanSTARRS catalog and the magnitudes are not corrected for Galactic extinction.
