[vsnet-grb-info 43712] IceCube-260827A: No transient candidates from the Zwicky Transient Facility
by GCN Circulars 01 Sep '26

01 Sep '26
TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45491 SUBJECT: IceCube-260827A: No transient candidates from the Zwicky Transient Facility DATE: 26/09/01 15:42:00 GMT FROM: Cristobal Zilleruelo Cañas at DESY <cristobal.zilleruelo.canas(a)desy.de> Cristobal Zilleruelo Cañas (DESY), Jannis Necker (Leiden University), Akshay Eranhalodi (DESY), Robert Stein (JSI), and Anna Franckowiak (Ruhr University Bochum) report, On behalf of the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) and Global Relay of Observatories Watching Transients Happen (GROWTH) collaborations: As part of the ZTF neutrino follow up program (Stein et al. 2023), we observed the localization region of the neutrino event IceCube-260827A (Velazquez et. al, GCN 45455) with the Palomar 48-inch telescope, equipped with the 47 square degree ZTF camera (Bellm et al. 2019, Graham et al. 2019). We started observations in the g- and r-band beginning at 2026-08-28 11:45 UTC, approximately 20.2 hours after event time. We covered 89.8% (0.8 sq deg) of the reported localization region. This estimate accounts for chip gaps. Each exposure was 300s with a typical depth of 21.0 mag. The images were processed in real-time through the ZTF reduction and image subtraction pipelines at IPAC to search for potential counterparts (Masci et al. 2019). AMPEL (Nordin et al. 2019, Stein et al. 2021) was used to search the alerts database for candidates. We reject stellar sources (Tachibana and Miller 2018) and moving objects, and apply machine learning algorithms (Mahabal et al. 2019) . No candidate counterparts were detected. ZTF and GROWTH are worldwide collaborations comprising Caltech/IPAC, USA; University of Maryland, USA; University of California, Berkeley, USA; Cornell University, USA; Drexel University, USA; University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA; Institute of Science and Technology, Austria; National Central University, Taiwan; OKC, Sweden; DZA, Germany. GROWTH acknowledges generous support of the NSF under PIRE Grant No 1545949. Alert distribution service provided by DIRAC@UW (Patterson et al. 2019). Alert database searches are done by AMPEL (Nordin et al. 2019). Alert filtering is performed with the nuztf (Stein et al. 2021, https://github.com/desy-multimessenger/nuztf ). TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45490 SUBJECT: GRB 260831B / sb26083106: SVOM/GWAC-F60A/B confirmation of optical vairation of nova V* GK Per DATE: 26/09/01 15:29:59 GMT FROM: SVOM_group <svomgroup(a)bao.ac.cn> S.J. Yin ,Y.X. Guan (GXU), C. Wu, L.P. Xin, X.H. Han, P.P. Zhang, J.L. Wang (NAOC), report on behalf of the SVOM follow-up team:   We observed the field of sb26083106 triggerd by SVOM (Godet et al., GCN 45477) with the GWAC-F60A/B at Xinglong Observatory, China. We started observing at 2026-08-31T18:37:43.39 UTC with a set of 50 images in R-band, 1.5 min after the trigger. We do not detect credible uncataloged candidates within ECLAIRs' error box, which is consistent with the reports from LCO (Guan et al., GCN 45482) and SVOM/VT (Li et al., GCN 45489). The following upper limit magnitude are derived R>18.6 mag (5-sigma at mid-time of 6.3 minutes after trigger), calibrated against USNO-B1.0 catalog, and not corrected for Galactic extinction. We also measure the classical nova V* GK Per ,which shows an amplitude variation cosistent with that reported by SVOM/VT (Li et al., GCN 45489). Two 60-cm GWAC-F60(A/B) are operated by Guangxi University and NAOC, CAS, at Xinglong Observatory, China. The field of view is 19*19 arcmin. TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45489 SUBJECT: GRB 260831B / sb26083106: SVOM/VT optical variability of V* GK Per DATE: 26/09/01 14:33:23 GMT FROM: Huali Li at at NAOC, SVOM <lhl(a)nao.cas.cn> H. L. Li, L. P. Xin, C. Wu, Y. N. Ma, Y. L. Qiu, Z. H. Yao, J. R. Xu, X. H. Han, J. Wang, Y. Xu, P. P. Zhang, W. J. Xie, Y. J. Xiao, H. B. Cai, J. S. Deng, J. Y. Wei (NAOC), J. T. Palmerio (CEA/Irfu) and C. Guepin (LUPM) report on behalf of the SVOM/VT team. SVOM/VT performed observations with automatic slew of the SVOM/ECLAIRs trigger sb26083106 (Godet et al., GCN 45477, 45486) starting from 2026-08-31T18:46:36 UT, about 10 minutes post trigger in the VT_B (400-650 nm) and VT_R (650-1000 nm) channels simultaneously. The classical nova mentioned by Godet et al. (GCN 45486) during our observations showed a fluctuating variation with the amplitude of about 0.2 mag in both channels. We also searched for uncatalogued sources within the SVOM/ECLAIRs error box (Godet et al., GCN 45477). In our images no uncatalogued sources were detected down to 5-sigma upper limits of about 22.5 mag (AB) in both channels at the mid time of 18.3 minutes post trigger. The Space Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) is a China-France joint mission led by the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA, China), National Center for Space Studies (CNES, France) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS, China), which is dedicated to observing gamma-ray bursts and other transient phenomena in the energetic universe. VT was jointly developed by Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics (XIOPM), CAS and National astronomical observatories (NAOC), CAS. [vsnet-grb-info 43708] EP260901a: EP-WXT detection of a fast X-ray transient
by GCN Circulars 01 Sep '26

01 Sep '26
TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45487 SUBJECT: EP260901a: EP-WXT detection of a fast X-ray transient DATE: 26/09/01 13:16:31 GMT FROM: EP Team at NAOC/CAS <ep_ta(a)bao.ac.cn> Y. F. Liang, J. Y. Liu (PMO), X. Mao, Q. H. Lao, Z. X. Ling (NAO, CAS) on behalf of the Einstein Probe (EP) team: We report on the detection of a fast X-ray transient, designated EP260901a (notice ID: 11900871682), by the Wide-field X-ray Telescope (WXT) on board the Einstein Probe (EP) mission. The transient was identified in the telemetry data. The transient started about 2026-09-01T05:07:45(UTC) and lasted for about 500s. The position of the transient is R.A. = 260.845 deg, Dec. = -19.232 (J2000), with an uncertainty radius of 2.4 arcmin in radius (90% confidence level, including both statistical and systematic uncertainties). There are no known X-ray sources in the WXT error circle. The average WXT 0.5-4 keV spectrum can be fitted by an absorbed power-law model with a fixed Galactic hydrogen column density of 3.34 × 10^21 cm^-2 and a photon index of 1.12 (-0.07/+0.07). The derived average unabsorbed 0.5-4 keV flux is 3.96(-0.61/+0.68) x 10^(-10) erg cm^-2 s^-1. The peak flux is about 3.7 x 10^(-9) erg cm^-2 s^-1. The uncertainties are at the 90% confidence level for the above parameters. Follow-up observations by EP-FXT will be arranged. Launched on 2024 January 9, Einstein Probe is a space-based X-ray observatory designed to monitor the dynamic X-ray sky and perform rapid follow-up observations of newly discovered transients (Yuan et al. 2022, Handbook of X-ray and Gamma-ray Astrophysics). TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45485 SUBJECT: GRB 260829A: AstroSat CZTI detection DATE: 26/09/01 11:39:37 GMT FROM: Anuraag Arya at IIT Bombay <aryaanuraag910(a)gmail.com> A. Goyal (IITB), A. Arya (IITB), Harsha K. H. (IUCAA), S. Salunke(IUCAA), G. Waratkar (CalTech/IITB), A. Vibhute (IUCAA), V. Bhalerao (IITB), D. Bhattacharya (Ashoka University/IUCAA), A. R. Rao (IUCAA/TIFR), and S. Vadawale (PRL) report on behalf of the AstroSat CZTI collaboration: Analysis of AstroSat CZTI data with the CIFT framework (Sharma et al., 2021, JApA, 42, 73) showed the detection of a GRB 260829A which was also detected by Fermi (Fermi GBM team, GCN Circ. 45464), BALROG localization (Preis et.al., GCN Circ. 45465), GECAM-B (Hao-Xuan Guo et al., GCN Circ. 45470), and IPN triangulation (Kozyrev et.al., GCN Circ. 45476). The source was clearly detected in the CsI anticoincidence (Veto) detector in the 100-500 keV energy range. The light curve peaks at 2026-08-29 06:08:31.7 UTC. The measured peak count rate associated with the burst is 614 (+58, -62) counts/s above the background in the combined data of all quadrants, with a total of 2357 (+429, -471) counts. The local mean background count rate was 643 (+6, -6) counts/s. We measure a T90 of 13.1 (+5.3, -6.5) s from the cumulative Veto light curve. The source was detected in the CZT detectors in the 20-200 keV energy range. The light curve showed multiple peaks of emission with the strongest peak at 2026-08-29 06:08:30.7 UTC. The measured peak count rate associated with the burst is 213 (+34, -27) counts/s above the background in the combined data of three quadrants (out of four), with a total of 708 (+180, -194) counts. The local mean background count rate was 227 (+2, -3) counts/s. Due to poor statistics, we cannot reliably estimate the T90 from it. Waratkar (Caltech) and B. Grefenstette (Caltech) report on behalf of the NuSTAR Search for INteresting Gamma-ray Signals (SINGS) working group: The NuSTAR SINGS working group reports the detection of prompt emission from the long-duration GRB 260830A in both the NuSTAR CsI anti-coincidence shields. Details of the search algorithm will be described in a future paper. The NuSTAR SINGS algorithm, triggered at 2026-08-30T19:32:13.02 UTC, shows a detection of GRB 260830A, also detected by Konus-Wind (GCN notices). The NuSTAR CsI shield data are recorded at 1 Hz. We detect a single episode with two peaks lasting for about 10-s. The peak count rate is ~1500-cps with a baseline rate of ~1000-cps during this time period. We do not see any evidence in the signal above 100 keV in the CZT detectors.
