Leicester) reports on behalf of the Swift-XRT team: We have analysed 5.5 ks of Photon Counting (PC) mode XRT data for GRB 250917B, collected between T0+142 s and T0+28.4 ks. Three uncatalogued X-ray sources have been detected within the estimated 3-sigma Swift-BAT error region (296 arcsec), however none of them is above the RASS limit or shows definitive signs of fading. Therefore, at the present time we cannot identify which, if any, is the afterglow. Details of these sources are given below: Source 1: RA (J2000.0): 291.3458 = 19h 25m 23.00s Dec (J2000.0): +11.1151 = +11d 06' 54.5" Error: 5.5 arcsec (radius, 90% conf. [Enhanced position]) Count-rate: (5.5 [+1.3, -1.2])e-3 ct s^-1 Distance: 113 arcsec from Swift-BAT position. Flux: (1.26 [+0.30, -0.28])e-13 erg cm^-2 s^-1 (observed, 0.3-10 keV) Source 5: RA (J2000.0): 291.3929 = 19h 25m 34.30s Dec (J2000.0): +11.0748 = +11d 04' 29.2" Error: 7.7 arcsec (radius, 90% conf.) Count-rate: (4.6 [+5.4, -3.9])e-4 ct s^-1 Distance: 147 arcsec from Swift-BAT position. Source 6: RA (J2000.0): 291.4312 = 19h 25m 43.49s Dec (J2000.0): +11.1014 = +11d 06' 05.0" Error: 8.3 arcsec (radius, 90% conf.) Count-rate: (7.4 [+6.4, -4.8])e-4 ct s^-1 Distance: 192 arcsec from Swift-BAT position. Flux: (1.47 [+1.27, -0.95])e-12 erg cm^-2 s^-1 (observed, 0.3-10 keV) Three uncatalogued sources were also detected too far from the GRB position to be likely afterglow candidates. TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 41850 SUBJECT: LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA S250917aq: Identification of a GW compact binary merger candidate DATE: 25/09/17 14:18:25 GMT FROM: daniela.pascucci(a)ugent.be The LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the Virgo Collaboration, and the KAGRA Collaboration report: We identified the compact binary merger candidate S250917aq during real-time processing of data from LIGO Hanford Observatory (H1) and Virgo Observatory (V1) at 2025-09-17 13:21:54.401 UTC (GPS time: 1442150532.401). The candidate was found by the GstLAL [1] analysis pipeline. S250917aq is an event of interest because its false alarm rate, as estimated by the online analysis, is 1.1e-13 Hz, or about one in 1e5 years. The event's properties can be found at this URL: https://gracedb.ligo.org/superevents/S250917aq The classification of the GW signal, in order of descending probability, is BBH (>99%), NSBH (<1%), Terrestrial (<1%), or BNS (<1%). Assuming the candidate is astrophysical in origin, the probability that at least one of the compact objects is consistent with a neutron star mass (HasNS) is <1%. [2] Using the masses and spins inferred from the signal, the probability of matter outside the final compact object (HasRemnant) is <1%. [2] Both HasNS and HasRemnant consider the support of several neutron star equations of state for maximum neutron star mass. The probability that either of the binary components lies between 3 and 5 solar masses (HasMassGap) is 3%. The source chirp mass falls with highest probability in the bin (5.5, 11.0) solar masses, assuming the candidate is astrophysical in origin. Two sky maps are available at this time and can be retrieved from the GraceDB event page: * bayestar.multiorder.fits,0, an initial localization generated by BAYESTAR [3], distributed via GCN and SCiMMA notices about 25 seconds after the candidate event time. * bayestar.multiorder.fits,1, an initial localization generated by BAYESTAR [3], distributed via GCN and SCiMMA notices about 5 minutes after the candidate event time. The preferred sky map at this time is bayestar.multiorder.fits,1. For the bayestar.multiorder.fits,1 sky map, the 90% credible region is 5646 deg2. Marginalized over the whole sky, the a posteriori luminosity distance estimate is 687 +/- 182 Mpc (a posteriori mean +/- standard deviation). Page (U Leicester) report on behalf of the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory Team: At 06:27:44 UT, the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) triggered and located GRB 250917B (trigger=1350381). Swift slewed immediately to the burst. The BAT on-board calculated location is RA, Dec 291.378, +11.113 which is RA(J2000) = 19h 25m 31s Dec(J2000) = +11d 06' 48" with an uncertainty of 3 arcmin (radius, 90% containment, including systematic uncertainty). The BAT light curve showed a short, single peaked structure with a duration of about 0.5 sec. The peak count rate was ~8000 counts/sec (15-350 keV), at ~0 sec after the trigger. The XRT began observing the field at 06:29:58.5 UT, 134.2 seconds after the BAT trigger. No source was detected in 681 s of promptly downlinked data. We are waiting for the full dataset to detect and localise the XRT counterpart. UVOT took a finding chart exposure of 150 seconds with the White filter starting 138 seconds after the BAT trigger. No credible afterglow candidate has been found in the initial data products. The 2.7'x2.7' sub-image covers 25% of the BAT error circle. The typical 3-sigma upper limit has been about 19.6 mag. The 8'x8' region for the list of sources generated on-board covers 100% of the BAT error circle. The list of sources is typically complete to about 18 mag. No correction has been made for the large, but uncertain, extinction expected. Burst Advocate for this burst is R. Pursiainen, report on behalf of GOTO collaboration: We report on optical observations with the Gravitational-wave Optical Transient Observer (GOTO; Steeghs et al. 2022, Dyer et al. 2024) in response to GRB 250916A (Fermi GBM team, GCN 41839; Arya et al., GCN 41843). Targeted observations were performed beginning at 2025-09-16 23:39:53 UT (+10.18h post trigger) and continued through to 2025-09-17 04:55:45 UT (+15.44h post trigger). 211 images were taken, across 10 unique pointings, covering 422.1 sq deg within the 90% localisation contour. ~68.1% of the total 2D localisation probability was covered, with an average 5-sigma depth of 20.0 mag. Images were processed immediately after acquisition using the GOTO pipeline. Difference imaging was performed using deeper template observations. Source candidates were initially filtered using a classifier (Killestein et al. 2021) and cross-matched against a variety of contextual and minor planet catalogs. Human vetting was carried out in real time on any candidates that passed the above checks. A new optical source, GOTO25hed, is identified within the GBM 90% localisation region with coordinates (J2000) RA = 26.570161, DEC = 36.16543. The source was initially detected with magnitude L = 18.90 ± 0.11 AB mag (+10.43h post trigger), before fading to L = 19.28 ± 0.12 AB mag (+14.47h post trigger). In total, the source was detected 3 times in our observations. The observed decay rate across the 4 hours our observations span is ~t^(-1.05±0.03). ATLAS forced photometry (Shingles et al. 2021) reveals a non-detection down to a 5-sigma upper limit of o > 19.6 AB mag at 2025-09-16 11:50:38 UT (-1.65h before trigger). We find no evidence of the source prior to the GRB trigger time in previous GOTO or ATLAS observations. Zhang (NAO, CAS) on behalf of the Einstein Probe (EP) team: The EP-WXT trigger 01709241037 at the time of 2025-09-16T23:34:38 (UTC), is likely a stellar flare associated with UPM J0113-5939. The estimated flux of the flare is around 6e-11 erg/s/cm^2 in 0.5-4.0 keV, corresponding to an X-ray luminosity of around 1.3e31 erg/s. Launched on January 9, 2024, EP is a space X-ray observatory to monitor the soft X-ray sky with X-ray follow-up capability (Yuan et al. 2022, Handbook of X-ray and Gamma-ray Astrophysics). Bhattacharya (Ashoka University/IUCAA), A. R. Rao (IUCAA/TIFR), and S. Vadawale (PRL) report on behalf of the AstroSat CZTI collaboration: Analysis of AstroSat CZTI data with the CIFT framework (Sharma et al., 2021, JApA, 42, 73) showed the detection of a bright long-duration GRB 250916A which was also detected by Fermi GBM (Fermi GBM Team, GCN Circ. 41839), and CALET (Trig ID. 1442064382). Note that we detected the bright burst roughly 250 s after the initial fainter spike as seen in the GBM lightcurve. The source was clearly detected in the CZT detectors in the 20-200 keV energy range. The light curve showed multiple peaks of emission with the strongest peak at 2025-09-16 13:33:28.50 UTC. The measured peak count rate associated with the burst is 79 (+29, -4) counts/s above the background in the combined data of two quadrants (out of four), with a total of 1695 (+232, -241) counts. We caution that there is a 0.3 s readout dead time in CZT data during the burst which affects the calculated total counts. The local mean background count rate was 135 (+1, -2) counts/s. Using cumulative rates, we measure a T90 of 48 (+2, -6) s. The source was also clearly detected in the CsI anticoincidence (Veto) detector in the 100-500 keV energy range. The light curve showed multiple peaks of emission with the strongest peak at 2025-09-16 13:33:26.00 UTC. The measured peak count rate associated with the burst is 556 (+80, -24) counts/s above the background in the combined data of all quadrants, with a total of 13048 (+742, -896) counts. The local mean background count rate was 1180 (+5, -4) counts/s. We measure a T90 of 50 (+2, -5) s from the cumulative Veto light curve. CZTI is built by a TIFR-led consortium of institutes across India, including VSSC, URSC, IUCAA, SAC, and PRL. The Indian Space Research Organisation funded, managed, and facilitated the project. TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 41842 SUBJECT: GRB 250910A: SVOM/ECLAIRs refined analysis DATE: 25/09/16 16:03:05 GMT FROM: SVOM_group <svomgroup(a)bao.ac.cn> Baptiste Hubert, Nicolas Dagoneau, Stéphane Schanne (CEA), Jean-Luc Atteia (IRAP), Frédéric Piron (LUPM), Yinuo Ma, Donghua Zhao, Wenjin Xie (NAOC) Using the event-by-event data downloaded through the X-band ground station, we report further analysis of ECLAIRs observations of GRB 250910A (SVOM burst-id sb25091001). The burst that triggered ECLAIRs (GCN 41769) consists of a broad structure with a duration of T90 = 22 -2/+3 s in the 4-20 keV energy band. The time-averaged spectrum from T0-15.5 s to T0+6.7 s (T0 = 2025-09-10T03:16:30) in the energy range 4-120 keV is best fitted by a power-law model with photon index 1.7 +/-0.2. With this model, the 4-120 keV flux is (2.2 -0.4/+0.2)e-08 erg/cm^2/s. All the quoted errors are at the 68% confidence level. The Space-based multi-band astronomical Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) is a China-France joint mission led by the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA), French Space Agency (CNES), and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), which is dedicated to observing gamma-ray bursts and other transient phenomena in the energetic universe.
