[vsnet-grb-info 43667] IceCube-260825A: No transient candidates from the Zwicky Transient Facility
by GCN Circulars 26 Aug '26

26 Aug '26
TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45446 SUBJECT: IceCube-260825A: No transient candidates from the Zwicky Transient Facility DATE: 26/08/26 15:21:41 GMT FROM: akshay.eranhalodi(a)desy.de Robert Stein (JSI), Cristobal Zilleruelo Cañas (DESY), Jannis Necker (Leiden University), Akshay Eranhalodi (DESY) and Anna Franckowiak (Ruhr University Bochum) report, On behalf of the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) and Global Relay of Observatories Watching Transients Happen (GROWTH) collaborations: As part of the ZTF neutrino follow up program (Stein et al. 2023), we observed the localization region of the neutrino event IceCube-260825A (Zilleruelo et. al, GCN 45438) with the Palomar 48-inch telescope, equipped with the 47 square degree ZTF camera (Bellm et al. 2019, Graham et al. 2019). We started observations in the g- and r-band beginning at 2026-08-25 11:01 UTC, approximately 0.1 hours after event time. We covered 81.2% (0.9 sq deg) of the reported localization region. This estimate accounts for chip gaps. Each exposure was 300s with a typical depth of 21.0 mag. The images were processed in real-time through the ZTF reduction and image subtraction pipelines at IPAC to search for potential counterparts (Masci et al. 2019). AMPEL (Nordin et al. 2019, Stein et al. 2021) was used to search the alerts database for candidates. We reject stellar sources (Tachibana and Miller 2018) and moving objects, and apply machine learning algorithms (Mahabal et al. 2019) . No candidate counterparts were detected. ZTF and GROWTH are worldwide collaborations comprising Caltech/IPAC, USA; University of Maryland, USA; University of California, Berkeley, USA; Cornell University, USA; Drexel University, USA; University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA; Institute of Science and Technology, Austria; National Central University, Taiwan; OKC, Sweden; DZA, Germany. GROWTH acknowledges generous support of the NSF under PIRE Grant No 1545949. Alert distribution service provided by DIRAC@UW (Patterson et al. 2019). Alert database searches are done by AMPEL (Nordin et al. 2019). Alert filtering is performed with the nuztf (Stein et al. 2021, https://github.com/desy-multimessenger/nuztf ). [vsnet-grb-info 43666] GRB 260807A: EP-FXT follow-up observations
by GCN Circulars 26 Aug '26

26 Aug '26
TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45445 SUBJECT: GRB 260807A: EP-FXT follow-up observations DATE: 26/08/26 11:11:27 GMT FROM: SVOM_group <svomgroup(a)bao.ac.cn> Ruizhi Li (YNAO), Chao Wu, Huali Li, Wenjin Xie, Donghua Zhao (NAOC), Hui Yang, Laurent Bouchet (IRAP) report: We performed two EP/FXT observations of the possible faint GRB 260807A detected by SVOM/ECLAIRs (Xie et al., GCN 45308). The first EP/FXT observation started at 2026-08-07 12:51:33 UTC, approximately 1.85 hours post-trigger, with an exposure time of 5.8 ks. The second EP/FXT observation started at 2026-08-13 07:44:00 UTC, approximately 5.86 days post-trigger, with an exposure time of 4.3 ks. We analyzed the data from the two EP/FXT observations. None of the X-ray sources within the SVOM/ECLAIRs error circle (Xie et al., GCN 45308) showed significant fading between the two EP/FXT observations, with 90% confidence upper limits on the flux of 2.85 x 10^-14 erg cm^-2 s^-1 and 3.67 x 10^-14 erg cm^-2 s^-1, respectively. We conclude that no credible X-ray source within the SVOM/ECLAIRs error circle can be identified as the X-ray afterglow of the burst. Schanne, D. Turpin, D. Götz (CEA/Irfu) report on behalf of the SVOM/ECLAIRs team: Using the event-by-event data downloaded through the X-band ground station, we report further analysis of SVOM/ECLAIRs observations of the short burst GRB 260822A (SVOM burst-id sb26082201, GCN 45422, trigger time T0 = 2026-08-22T16:50:36.0 UTC). The ECLAIRs lightcurve shows a multi-peaked structure, with T90(4-120 keV) = 0.18 +/- 0.05 s. No obvious extended emission has been detected. The time-averaged spectrum from T0+ 0.637 s to T0 + 0.817 s in the 5-120 keV range, is well fitted by a power-law model with a photon index of -1.0 +/-0.1, a 4-120 keV photon flux of (6.9 +0.3/-1.4) photons/cm^2/s, and a corresponding 4-120 keV fluence of (6.5 +/-0.9)e-8 erg/cm^2. All the quoted errors are at the 68% confidence level. The Space-based multi-band astronomical Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) is a China-France joint mission led by the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA), French Space Agency (CNES), and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), which is dedicated to observing gamma-ray bursts and other transient phenomena in the energetic universe. ECLAIRs was developed jointly by CNES, CEA-IRFU, CNRS-IRAP, CNRS-APC. by GCN Circulars 25 Aug '26

25 Aug '26
TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45442 SUBJECT: GRB 260822A: SVOM/VT optical upper limits DATE: 26/08/25 18:13:04 GMT FROM: Huali Li at at NAOC, SVOM <lhl(a)nao.cas.cn> H. L. Li, L. P. Xin, C. Wu, Y. N. Ma, Y. L. Qiu, Z. H. Yao, J. R. Xu, X. H. Han, J. Wang, Y. Xu, P. P. Zhang, W. J. Xie, Y. J. Xiao, H. B. Cai, J. S. Deng, J. Y. Wei (NAOC) and J. T. Palmerio (CEA/Irfu) report on behalf of the SVOM/VT team. SVOM/VT performed two additional ToO observations of GRB 260822A (sb26082201, Schanne et al., GCN 45422) at mid-times of 18.9 h and 23.8 h in the VT_B (400-650 nm) and VT_R (650-1000 nm) channels simultaneously. No credible candidate was found in the stacked images of each epoch from both the earlier VT observations (Li et al., GCN 45430) and the present ToO observations, within the SVOM/ECLAIRs error box (Schanne et al., GCN 45422) and the Einstein Probe positions (Turpin et al., GCN 45436). The typical 5-sigma upper limits are 23.0 mag in both channels. Our measurements are in AB magnitudes and are not corrected for Galactic extinction. This non-detection is consistent with the reports from GOTO (O'Neill et al., GCN 45423), GROWTH-India (Saikia et al., GCN 45424), LCO (Turpin et al., GCN 45427) and PRIME (Durbak et al., GCN 45437). The Space Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) is a China-France joint mission led by the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA, China), National Center for Space Studies (CNES, France) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS, China), which is dedicated to observing gamma-ray bursts and other transient phenomena in the energetic universe. VT was jointly developed by Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics (XIOPM), CAS and National astronomical observatories (NAOC), CAS. [vsnet-grb-info 43661] IceCube-Cascade 260824A: Upper limits from a search for additional neutrino events in IceCube
by GCN Circulars 25 Aug '26

25 Aug '26
TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45440 SUBJECT: IceCube-Cascade 260824A: Upper limits from a search for additional neutrino events in IceCube DATE: 26/08/25 15:35:18 GMT FROM: Alicia Mand at IceCube/UW-Madison <aemand(a)wisc.edu> The IceCube Collaboration (http://icecube.wisc.edu/) reports: IceCube has performed a search [1] for additional track-like muon neutrino events arriving from the direction of IceCube-Cascade 260824A (https://gcn.gsfc.nasa.gov/notices_amon_icecube_cascade/143029_33795562.amon) in a time range of 1000 seconds centered on the alert event time (2026-08-24 01:31:48.903 UTC to 2026-08-24 01:48:28.903 UTC) during which IceCube was collecting good quality data. Excluding the event that prompted the alert, zero track-like events are found within the 90% containment region of IceCube-Cascade 260824A. We report a p-value of 1.00 in this time window. IceCube’s sensitivity to neutrino point sources with an E^-2.5 spectrum, expressed as E^2 dN/dE evaluated at 1 TeV, ranges from 1.4e-01 to 1.6e-01 GeV cm^-2 within the 90% spatial containment region of IceCube-Cascade 260824A in a 1000 second time window. 90% of events IceCube would detect from a source at this declination with an E^-2.5 spectrum have energies in the approximate energy range between 2e+02 GeV and 6e+04 GeV. A subsequent search was performed including 2 days of data centered on the alert event time (2026-08-23 01:40:08.903 UTC to 2026-08-25 01:40:08.903 UTC). In this case, we report a p-value of 0.86, consistent with no significant excess of track events. IceCube’s sensitivity to neutrino point sources with an E^-2.5 spectrum, expressed as E^2 dN/dE evaluated at 1 TeV, ranges from 1.6e-01 to 1.9e-01 GeV cm^-2 within the 90% spatial containment region of IceCube-Cascade 260824A in a 2 day time window. The IceCube Neutrino Observatory is a cubic-kilometer neutrino detector operating at the geographic South Pole, Antarctica. The IceCube realtime alert point of contact can be reached at roc(a)icecube.wisc.edu. [1] IceCube Collaboration, R.
