TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR NUMBER: 45398 SUBJECT: GRB 260818B: SVOM detection of a short burst DATE: 26/08/18 21:18:05 GMT FROM: SVOM_group <svomgroup(a)bao.ac.cn> Bertrand Cordier (CEA), Hatsune Goto (RIKEN, CEA) report on behalf of the SVOM mission team: At 2026-08-18T20:11:12 UTC (T0), SVOM/ECLAIRs triggered and located the gamma-ray burst GRB 260818B (SVOM burst-id sb26081807). The following trigger information was received on the ground with low latency by the SVOM VHF Alert Network. The burst was only detected by the Count-Rate Trigger (CRT), which produced a sequence of 2 alerts. CRT provided the alert with the best signal-to-noise-ratio in the image (SNR) of 18.60 in the [8-120] keV energy band over a time window of 0.08 seconds starting at 2026-08-18T20:11:12. The localization of the best alert is R.A., Dec. 44.9407, 7.4547 degrees: R.A. (J2000) = 2h59m45.76s Dec. (J2000) = 7d27m16.93s with a 90% confidence level (C.L.) radius of 4.60 arcmin (including systematic error of 2 arcmin added in quadrature). The SVOM/ECLAIRs light curve showed a single peak structure with a duration of about 1 second. This burst also triggered SVOM/GRM at 2026-08-18T20:11:12 on a timescale of 0.10 seconds with an SNR of 31.10. Due to a platform constraint, no immediate slew was performed on this burst. No X-ray observation could be performed by SVOM/MXT for the time being. No optical observation could be performed by SVOM/VT for the time being. We will schedule a SVOM ToO observation for this burst. We have applied image subtraction using PS1 g,r images as reference and clearly detected the optical counterpart (He et al., GCN 45300; de Ugarte Postigo et al., GCN 45302; Eyles-Ferris et al., GCN 45303; Ma et al., GCN 45304; de Ugarte Postigo et al., GCN 45306; Anumarlapudi et al., GCN 45312; Abidkhanov et al., GCN 45354; Hua et al., GCN 45385; Maksut et al., GCN 4538) at each epoch. No correction for the Galactic extinction was applied. Turpin (CEA/Irfu), Clara Plasse (HKU), Donghua Zhao (NAOC), report on behalf of the SVOM mission team: We observed the field of GRB 260818A (SVOM burst-id sb26081801) detected by SVOM (Yin et al., GCN 45391) with the LCO 1m telescope at Teide Observatory and South African Astronomical Observatory equipped with the Sinistro instrument. Our observation started on 2026-08-18 at 01:46:28.00 UT (about 41.87 min after the trigger) and we obtained 6x200 s exposures in the SDSS r and 3x200 s exposures in the PS1 zs filter. No credible uncatalogued source was detected in our stacked frames in the ECLAIRs localization region as also reported by SVOM/COLIBRÍ (Ducoin et al., GCN 45393). We measure the following upper limits calibrated against the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys DR10 catalog, and not corrected for Galactic extinction: r > 21.8 AB (5-sigma, mid-time 1.01 hr after the trigger), z > 20.5 AB (5-sigma, mid-time 1.14 hr after the trigger). Zhuzhunadze (AbAO) report on behalf of IKI-GRB-FuN: We observed the field of the Einstein Probe fast X-ray transient EP260812a (Liu et al., GCN 45362) with the AS-32 telescope of Abastumani Observatory (AbAO). The observations were conducted on 2026-08-13 starting at 17:12:50 UT, i.e. ~1.267 days since trigger. The series of 66x60 sec exposures was taken in the R-filter using CCD-photometer. No new sources was identified within the X-ray error circle (Yang et al., GCN 45373). A faint optical source found in the NOT and LT observations (Corcoran et al., GCN 45376) is not detected in our observations. The observation summary and preliminary upper limit are provided below: Date UTstart t-T0 Exp. Watson (UNAM), and Clara Plasse report: We imaged the field of the SVOM GRB 260818A (Yin et al., GCN Circ. 45391) using the DDRAGO two-channel wide-field imager on the SVOM/COLIBRÍ (FM-GFT) telescope. We observed from 2026-08-18T07:52:19 to 2026-08-18T08:35:21 UTC (from 6.82 to 7.54 hours after the trigger) and obtained 32 minutes of simultaneous exposure in the r and z filters. The data were reduced and coadded and analysed with the COLIBRÍ pipeline. The photometry was calibrated using nearby stars from the SkyMapper DR4 catalog, is in the AB system, and is not corrected for Galactic extinction. In the stacked image, we do not detect any new source at the ECLAIRs source position (Yin et al., GCN Circ. 45391) down to the following 10-sigma limit: r > 22.3 z > 20.4 Further observations are ongoing. We thank the staff of the Observatorio Astronómico Nacional at Sierra de San Pedro Mártir, as well as the technical and engineering teams at CEA, CPPM, IRAP, LAM, OHP, OSU Pytheas, and UNAM. Arya et al., GCN #45363), and Glowbug (C.C. Cheung et al., GCN #45365) The Insight-HXMT/HE light curve mainly consists of two pulses with a T90 of 18.0 +7.0/-5.5 s. The 1 s peak rate, measured from T0+0.25 s, is 4028 cnts/sec. Insight-HXMT/HE detected a total of 15728 counts from this burst. The Insight-HXMT/HE light curve can be found here: https://www.bursthub.cn/gcn/2026/hxmtgrb260810A.png All measurements above are made with the CsI detectors of Insight-HXMT/HE operating in the Normal mode with the energy range of about 60-900 keV (deposited energy). Only gamma-rays with energy greater than about 200 keV can penetrate the spacecraft and leave signals in the CsI detectors installed inside of the telescope. Insight-HXMT is the first Chinese space X-ray telescope, which was funded jointly by the China National Space Administration (CNSA) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Yin (HKU), Hatsune Goto (RIKEN, CEA), Clara Plasse (HKU), Donghua Zhao (NAOC), Wenjin Xie (NAOC) report on behalf of the SVOM mission team: At 2026-08-18T01:04:36 UTC (T0), SVOM/ECLAIRs triggered and located a possible GRB (SVOM burst-id sb26081801). The following trigger information was received on the ground with low latency by the SVOM VHF Alert Network. The burst was only detected by the Image Trigger (IMT), which produced a sequence of 1 alert. IMT provided the alert with the best signal-to-noise-ratio in the image (SNR) of 6.86 in the [8-120] keV energy band over a time window of 81.92 seconds starting at 2026-08-18T01:03:14. The localization of the best alert is R.A., Dec. 350.0116, -32.0362 degrees: R.A. (J2000) = 23h20m02.79s Dec. (J2000) = -32d02m10.23s with a 90% confidence level (C.L.) radius of 11.41 arcmin (including systematic error of 2 arcmin added in quadrature). We notice the presence of several quasars in this error box, among which the closest is [VV2006] J232014.7-320423 located at 3.3 arcmin. Due to the detection significance being below the slew threshold, no immediate slew was performed on this burst. ToOs of SVOM/MXT and SVOM/VT have been scheduled for this burst. Coleiro (APC) report on behalf of the SVOM team: The SVOM/ECLAIRs telescope detected EP260806a (EP team, GCN 45299), starting at 2026-08-06T20:02:00 UTC (T0), through an offline targeted search with the event-by-event data downloaded via the X-band ground station. The earliest ECLAIRs detection, at T0, occurred almost three hours before the EP-WXT detection that began at 2026-08-06 22:57:37 UTC (EP team, GCN 45305). The transient was detected during two time windows: first, between T0 and 2026-08-06T20:25:20 UTC, and later, between 2026-08-06T21:36:00 UTC and 2026-08-06T22:04:40 UTC. These intervals were interrupted by periods during which the transient was covered by Earth occultation and when the satellite entered regions of high particle background. For example, the transient was occulted by the Earth for ECLAIRs when it was detected by EP-WXT. In both time windows, the transient was detected with several timescales and energy ranges. The best detection was obtained by the image trigger with a signal-to-noise ratio of 6.7 in the 4-20 keV over a time window of 1311 seconds starting at 2026-08-06T21:42:40 UTC. This event was not detected onboard because it was too faint with very long timescales. The localization of the source is RA, Dec = 12.355, 35.380 degrees: RA (J2000) = 00h49m25s Dec (J2000) = 35d22m48s with a 90% C.L. radius of 11.7 arcmin (including systematic error of 2 arcmin added in quadrature). This position is consistent with that measured by EP/FXT, with an angular separation of 11 arcmin. The ECLAIRs light curve shows a featureless structure during both time windows, with most of the detected photons below 20 keV. We extracted the time-averaged spectra over the two time windows: T0 – 2026-08-06T20:25:20 and 2026-08-06T21:36:00 – 2026-08-06T22:04:40. The first spectrum in the 5-20 keV is well fitted (chi2/dof=3.1/4) by a power-law model with a photon index of 1.1+0.5-0.6, yielding a corresponding 4-20 keV flux of (5.1+/-1.1)e-10 erg/cm^2/s. The second spectrum in the 5-20 keV is well fitted (chi2/dof=1.1/4) by a power-law model with a photon index of 2.9+/-0.6, yielding a corresponding 4-20 keV flux of (6.5+/-0.9)e-10 erg/cm^2/s. Adopting a redshift of z = 0.089 (de Ugarte Postigo et al., GCN 45302), the luminosities are estimated to be 1e46 erg/s and 1.3e46 erg/s in the 4-20 keV for the two time windows, respectively. All quoted errors are at the 68% confidence level. After subtracting the template, we detected the optical counterpart (He et al., GCN 45300; de Ugarte Postigo et al., GCN 45302; Eyles-Ferris et al., GCN 45303; Ma et al., GCN 45304; de Ugarte Postigo et al., GCN 45306; Anumarlapudi et al., GCN 45312; Abidkhanov et. al., GCN 45354; Hua et. al., GCN 45385).
